Routines don’t have to be so hard and complicated

Have you ever noticed that we, over here on team human-being, have a tendency to overcomplicate things, especially when it comes to our morning routines?

You may have big dreams, grand plans, and goals you want to achieve, but when it comes to breaking it down into simple, easy-to-digest steps that you take one day at a time…

Well, that’s where you struggle.

Which is why I’m here today to tell you that routines don’t have to be so hard and complicated. In fact, those habits are actually in place to make your life LESS stressful.

But I know that sometimes it can be hard to understand exactly how a morning routine can be a game-changer in your own life, which is why I'd like to introduce you to Erica.

When Erica and I first started working together to create better habits and routines, she was feeling completely overwhelmed. She explains, “I can see now that I was trying to do too much all at one time, feeling like every idea for change that popped into my head needed to be done immediately; every piece of information that came into my life had to be saved and acted on; and every moment of my day had to be productive. My day-to-day life was stressful instead of joyful. But at the time, all I knew was that the way I felt wasn’t sustainable and that I needed to ask for outside perspective to gain clarity about what to do next.”

Now, Erica definitely wasn’t alone in this, as I’ve heard this time and time again from other creative entrepreneurs. This is why I like to help clients find a morning routine that's right for them.

For Erica, we developed a morning routine that she could stick to, so that she could start each day feeling grounded, calm, and at ease. For her that meant:

  • Waking up at a consistent time each day so that she felt well-rested.
  • Filling in her Five-Minute Journal each morning to cultivate gratitude, mindfulness, and intention.
  • Going outside on her front porch to do nothing for ten minutes as the world wakes up, to give herself some much needed “me” time before taking care of others.

What’s special about Erica’s morning routine is that it’s not a complicated, 45-step, one-size-fits all system, but rather a simple, actionable plan that works for her. That’s where the magic lies.

But what did she consider the most valuable result of our work together?

“I feel less stressed and more capable, relaxed, and open. I not only walked away with a morning routine that felt good for right now, I walked away with the confidence that I could make changes to this routine when needed. I’m a mom who runs a business while also taking care of my child during the day, so for me, change is inevitable. Having the skills and resources to rework my morning routine as needed helps me feel more like I can handle each day—because it’s starting in a way that works for me!”

Through these simple, small, consistent efforts, she started living a lifestyle closer to the one she had envisioned for herself, one of less stress and overwhelm.

Now, I know you may be thinking that you know the things you should be doing to create a beautiful, balanced morning that supports you in your everyday, but you may be a bit fuzzy on the details that will get you there.

That’s why I’m here to help you, the same way that I helped Erica. Join me for The Morning Routine Edit, a 45-minute, single-session coaching call to help you cultivate a new morning routine so you can focus your efforts and create your most positive, productive morning yet.
